The 2025 Ram 1500 is set to arrive with a refreshed look and two new engine options under the hood.; The Hemi V-8s are gone from the full-size pickup, with a pair of Hurricane twin-turbocharged 3.
5.7 hemi is only 345cid where as the 5.7 Chevy is 350cid. The Chevy 350 stayed the same until the mid 90's when they went to the ls platform. The hemi is the better platform. 2007 Magnum SRT8. 6.1-Arrington st-3a cam- pushrods-valve springs-custom tune by dito's-SLP under drive pulley-double roller timing chain-the fastman ported throttle body
Bore pitch is 105.5 mm; 21.0 mm cylinder banks offset. All UR engines have a 94 mm bore size. There is a 102.0 mm stroke for increasing displacement to 5.7l. The 3UR has its own forged steel crankshaft with six balance weights, forged connecting rods, and aluminum alloy pistons with a resin coating. Four oil jets in the block cools pistons by oil.
The 5.9 had much more low rpm torque. The 5.9 had 3.55 gears, the 5.7 has 3.92 gears. That being said - if you let the hemi rev it has much more high rpm power than the 5.9 and the 8 speed transmission is, well, just about perfect. My ideal truck would have been that dakota body with a tuned 5.9 and the 8 speed trans.
Looks like it is another $1400 to upgrade to the 6.4L Hemi with 3.73 gears and yes, the 6.4 uses 87 octane while the 5.7 is rated for 89 octane. However, the 6.4L only increases the GVWR by 1,000 pounds and does not increase the payload so I am not sure the trade off is worth it. 01-21-2015, 07:16 PM. # 10.
I am looking for the Pros and Cons of going with the 3.6 V6 8 Speed (3.55 axle ratio) or getting the 5.7 Hemi. I would appreciate hearing opinions. I drive quite a bit 20,000 - 25,000 miles per year, so mpg is certainly important. The majority of this will be basic transportation miles. I do tow an 18' boat several times per year including a
But this is a discussion/debate for another blog. ABOVE: The 5.7 Hemi V8 has been the mainstay of the Dodge truck fleet since 2003 when it replaced the old 360/5.9L Magnum V8. But like its Hellcat derivatives, the 5.7L and the 6.2L could very soon be phased out of use entirely in the trucks for a small displacement turbocharged engine.
From Dodge Charger to Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Magnum R/T to Chrysler 300C, this engine was added everywhere! And then everything changes when the Hemi 5.7 came in! People often keep asking- is the 5.7 Hemi a good engine or not. Let’s find out!
